A second trailer for You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 confirms a July 5 premiere on MBS and TBS, with debut artist 7co performing the opening theme Nekojarashi.

The official channels for You and I Are Polar Opposites dropped a second trailer for the anime's upcoming Season 2 on May 25, confirming a July 5, 2026 premiere at 5:00 PM JST on MBS and TBS.
The fresh trailer puts the spotlight squarely on the romantic dynamics that made the first season a hit. While Suzuki and Tani remain the central pair the bubbly crowd-follower and the quietly blunt loner the preview expands the frame to feature the Yamada–Nishi and Taira–Azuma couples, signaling that Season 2 will give the supporting cast significantly more room to breathe. Fans of Kocha Agasawa's original manga have long anticipated these arcs, which explore contrasting personality clashes that mirror the leads' own push-and-pull chemistry.
Alongside the trailer, the production committee revealed that the Season 2 opening theme will be "Nekojarashi," performed by 7co. The track marks the artist's debut single, making it a notable pairing of a fresh voice with an established franchise. The breezy, upbeat tone heard in the trailer's closing seconds fits the show's signature warmth light romance seasoned with genuine emotional beats.
Studio Lapin Track returns to handle animation production for the second season. Director Takayoshi Nagatomo is back at the helm, with Teruko Utsumi continuing as series composer and animation producer. Character designer Miyakomako and sub-character designer Naho Kozono also reprise their roles, ensuring visual continuity with the first season's soft, expressive art style. Additional returning staff includes color designer Yuki Akimoto and compositing director Tomoyuki Shiokawa.
The core voice cast is confirmed to return: Sayumi Suzushiro as Suzuki, Shogo Sakata as Tani, Yuna Taniguchi as Watanabe, and Konatsu Hirabayashi as Sato. Joining them for the expanded couple arcs are Anji Iwata as Yamada, Cocoro Omori as Nishi, Wataru Kato as Taira, and Miyuri Shimabukuro as Azuma. Tomori Kusunoki rounds out the announced cast as Honda.
The anime adapts Kocha Agasawa's manga, which originally debuted as a one-shot in January 2021 before launching as a full serialization in May 2022. The manga concluded in November 2024, giving the anime team a complete story to work from. With the source material wrapped, Season 2 has clear runway to adapt the later arcs including the deeper relationship developments for the side couples that the new trailer teases.
The first season aired in January 2025 and quickly built a loyal following for its understated humor and relatable high school dynamics. The show's appeal lies in how it treats personality differences not as obstacles to overcome but as complementary forces that draw people together a tone that resonated particularly well with younger audiences on social media.
With the manga already complete, viewers can expect Season 2 to push deeper into the relationship arcs without the pacing constraints that sometimes affect ongoing adaptations. Whether the anime will adapt the story through to its conclusion remains to be seen, but the expanded cast and confirmed two-cour ambitions from the production committee suggest a comprehensive adaptation is the goal.
You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 premieres July 5, 2026 on MBS and TBS at 5:00 PM JST, slotting it into the summer 2026 anime season.
