The 2027 television anime New KochiKame revealed its four central cast members in Japan on September 5, 2026. Fukushi Ochiai, Shota Aoi, M・A・O and Raikou Sakamoto will lead the new adaptation, with their performances heard for the first time in a newly released character trailer. The series will air on Fuji TV in 2027.

The new voices behind Kameari's police box

Ochiai takes over as Kankichi Ryotsu, the famously unruly officer at the center of KochiKame. Aoi voices Keiichi Nakagawa, while M・A・O plays Reiko Akimoto and Sakamoto portrays Daijiro Ohara. Together, the four characters form the familiar core of the Kameari police box ensemble.

The character trailer is the first official preview built around the new cast's voices. It introduces each of the four performers in turn and gives viewers an initial sense of how Ryotsu, Nakagawa, Reiko and Ohara will sound in the upcoming production. A key visual released alongside the video brings the group together, placing the cast announcement within a broader first look at the new series.

The project carries the full Japanese title Shin Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo, commonly shortened to New KochiKame. It adapts Osamu Akimoto's long-running police comedy manga, which follows Ryotsu and the people around him in Tokyo's Kameari neighborhood. The new anime was created as part of the manga's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The four performers were introduced during a September 5 event titled New KochiKame New Cast Announcement Event: Launch! Reiwa KochiKame Grand Operation. Their unveiling, the character trailer and the key visual were presented together, giving the production a single showcase for its principal characters and their new voices.

With the trailer now available, the production has moved beyond its initial project announcement and established the performers who will anchor its return to television.

The staff bringing New KochiKame to television

Akitaro Daichi is directing the anime at animation studio Gallop. His appointment was announced alongside the main cast and the rest of the central production staff, providing a clearer picture of the team shaping this anniversary project.

The writing team consists of Shuichi Koyama and Yukinori Fukushima. Kenichi Hara is handling character designs and serving as chief animation director, with Noh Gil-bo also credited as chief animation director. Toshihiko Sahashi is composing the music, while Kazuya Tanaka is the sound director.

The wider staff includes Masato Yokoi as color designer, Ayumi Saito as director of photography and Yuka Hirama as art director. Those credits accompany the cast reveal and provide the clearest production outline released for the series so far. Gallop is responsible for animation production.

New KochiKame is scheduled for a 2027 broadcast on Fuji TV, with distribution planned across additional platforms. A specific premiere date and individual streaming services have not been announced. For now, the confirmed next stage is the 2027 rollout, led by the newly introduced cast and Daichi's direction.
