Though I Am an Inept Villainess Second Cour Releases First Teaser
The first teaser for Though I Am an Inept Villainess's second cour previews the First Royal Outing arc ahead of its January 2027 broadcast.

The first teaser for the second cour of Though I Am an Inept Villainess arrived on October 23, previewing the anime's First Royal Outing arc before its Japanese television return in January 2027. Doga Kobo remains the animation studio for the continuation.
What the teaser sets up
The new material moves Reirin Kou and Keigetsu Shu beyond the inner court disturbances that shaped the first part of the story. Their forced body swap exposed each woman to the other's circumstances, turning an antagonistic relationship into a developing friendship. The second cour begins after that immediate crisis has settled, with the pair facing a problem tied to life outside the palace.
The original exchange began when Keigetsu used forbidden magic against her rival. Reirin was left to endure punishment meant for Keigetsu, while Keigetsu occupied Reirin's physically fragile body, forcing both to confront the consequences of their rivalry.
The published story description places the next conflict in the southern territory governed by the Shu clan. Keigetsu is preparing to host a Harvest Festival ceremony without a consort serving as guardian, while Reirin looks forward to her first royal outing and supports her through the pressure. An accident interrupts the ritual soon after they arrive, and Keigetsu's magic sends the two women into another body swap.
That reversal is only the beginning of the arc's complication. Reirin, in the swapped body, is abducted amid the confusion. Her brothers, Kou Keikou and Kou Keishou, then become involved as a new plot takes shape around an attempt to frame Keigetsu. The setup lets the continuation revisit the series' central exchange while changing the location and broadening the family and political stakes around the leads.
The teaser therefore functions as more than a reminder that the series is returning. It identifies the next named storyline, establishes the Harvest Festival as its immediate setting, and signals that the friendship built during the first cour will be tested by another crisis involving identity and court intrigue.
The production team remains in place
Mitsue Yamazaki continues as director for the second cour at Doga Kobo. Yoshiko Nakamura remains responsible for series composition, and Ai Kikuchi continues as character designer. Keeping those principal creative roles unchanged gives the January continuation the same core production leadership as the first cour.
The two central performers are also returning. Manaka Iwami again voices Reirin, while Natsumi Kawaida reprises Keigetsu. Their characters' contrasting personalities and repeated exchanges are central to the premise, so the confirmed return of both actors preserves the pairing at the center of the new arc.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess adapts the light novels written by Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by Kana Yuki. The anime follows Reirin and Keigetsu through a court drama built around forbidden magic, switched bodies, rivalry, and an increasingly necessary alliance. The second cour now has its first video preview and a confirmed January 2027 broadcast window, with the First Royal Outing arc providing its next major storyline.
