The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life will begin broadcasting in Japan on October 6 at 24:00 on TV Tokyo network stations. The production committee announced the date on September 9 alongside the anime's main trailer, main visual and three additions to the voice cast.

What the main trailer adds

The new promotional video gives the clearest look yet at Rein Garland's life after his expulsion from the Fangs of the King Beast guild. Rein is an enchanter who can place strengthening points on weapons, armor and other targets, then remove those effects when he chooses. After his old guild dismisses him because its equipment has already been enhanced, he retrieves the power he previously supplied and starts over with another adventuring group.

That setup leaves the series room for both fantasy action and comedy. The trailer moves between Rein's unusual enhancement ability, his new companions and confrontations tied to the guild that cast him out. It also previews "Ember Torch," the opening theme performed by Japanese rock band sumika. The song announcement was published the same day as the trailer, tying the theme's first preview directly to the final premiere-date campaign. The accompanying main visual gathers Rein and the wider ensemble ahead of the television debut.

Three newly announced performers expand that ensemble. Takumi Yamazaki voices Donguri, Margaret Ells' dog, while Taiten Kusunoki plays Balius, the guild master who expels Rein. Megumi Toyoguchi voices Glenda, the same guild's vice master. The official character material describes Glenda as cool in manner but trusted by the guild's members, giving the new cast reveal a direct link to Rein's former workplace rather than adding unrelated side characters.

The production and source story

Shu Honma is directing the television anime at P.A.WORKS. Yoko Yonaiyama is handling series composition, and Yuito Kiyosawa serves as character designer and chief animation director. Masami Goda is credited for gag and supporting character designs as well as chief animation direction. The production credits also name Noboru Sugimitsu as monster designer and action animation director, Kazu Doi for color design, Tamako Kamiyama as art director, and Ayumu Takahashi as editor.

The anime is based on Gyomuyomochi's manga adaptation of Asa Rokushima's light novel story, with original character concepts by kisui. That distinction matters because the television project is drawing from the manga version, which presents Rein's second life through an especially dense mix of adventure, battles, character drama and chaotic comedy.

Rein will be voiced by Daiki Yamashita. The previously announced principal cast also includes Lynn as Lily Flambert, Yoshino Aoyama as Margaret, Miyu Tomita as Mirabelle, Megumi Han as Elsie Zra and Konomi Kohara as Nina. Those characters connect Rein's fresh start with the Blue Crystal guild to figures from his earlier life, so the October premiere is positioned to establish both the new party and the consequences of taking his enhancements back.

Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream the series as it airs across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the CIS. An exact streaming time has not been announced.
