KonoSuba Season 4 Reveals Staff, Studio Change to ENGI, and 2027 Premiere

KonoSuba - God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! 4 has been officially unveiled at the franchise's 10th anniversary "Colorful" event. The fourth season will premiere in 2027 with animation studio ENGI taking over production and chief director Takaomi Kanasaki returning to lead the project.

A New Studio Takes the Reins

ENGI will handle animation for Season 4, marking the third studio change in the franchise's history. Studio DEEN produced the first two seasons, J.C. Staff animated the 2019 Legend of Crimson film, and Studio Drive took over for Season 3 and the Megumin-focused spin-off series. The shift to ENGI brings yet another production house into KonoSuba's orbit, though the continuity of key creative staff should help maintain the series' signature comedic tone.

ENGI has previously handled titles such as The Detective Is Already Dead and Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!, giving the studio experience with character-driven comedy and light novel adaptations - both of which are central to KonoSuba's appeal.

Returning Staff and a New Director

While the animation studio is changing, most of the creative leadership remains intact. Takaomi Kanasaki, who has been with the franchise since its debut, returns as chief director. Joining him in a new capacity is director Manabu Kurihara, whose previous credits include The Detective Is Already Dead.

The Season 4 reveal came as part of a larger celebration of the franchise's 10th anniversary. The "Colorful" event featured an ultra teaser visual for the upcoming season alongside a special anniversary video. The video showcased a new arrangement of the first season's beloved opening theme, performed once again by vocalist Machico, whose energetic performances have become synonymous with the series.

The sequel had first been announced on March 14, 2025, following the release of the BONUS STAGE OVA episodes. The July 26 event filled in the production details that fans had been waiting for, confirming both the staff lineup and the 2027 premiere window.

Beyond the anime, original light novelist Natsume Akatsuki is also supervising a new mobile and PC game set to launch in 2026, expanding the franchise across multiple media as it enters its second decade.
