Detective Conan and Star Detective Precure will swap characters across two crossover episodes airing May 31 and June 6, marking the first-ever collaboration between the two franchises.

Detective Conan and Star Detective Precure are teaming up for a historic first collaboration. Two crossover episodes will air on consecutive weekends May 31 and June 6 with each show featuring characters from the other in what marks the first-ever partnership between these long-running franchises.
Despite both being pillars of Japanese television anime, Detective Conan and the Precure franchise have never crossed paths on screen until now. Detective Conan, which debuted in 1996, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, making this crossover a fitting milestone for the beloved mystery series. Star Detective Precure, the latest installment in Toei Animation's iconic magical girl franchise, launched earlier this year with a detective-themed twist that makes it a natural fit for a collaboration with Conan Edogawa and his crew.
Both series air on TV Asahi affiliate channels, and the shared broadcast network has evidently made this unprecedented event possible. The detective theme running through the current Precure series created a rare thematic overlap that the production teams have seized upon.
The crossover kicks off in Star Detective Precure Episode 18, titled "Meitantei no Assemble" (Great Detectives Assemble). In the episode, an art piece set to be displayed at an upcoming museum exhibit is stolen, prompting protagonists Anna and Mikuru to hunt for clues. By coincidence, Conan Edogawa, Ran Mouri, and Kogorou Mouri happen to be visiting Makoto Mirai Town. The two groups meet and join forces to oppose the Phantom Thieves.
The premise leans into the strengths of both properties mystery-solving and teamwork — while giving younger Precure viewers a proper introduction to the world of Detective Conan.
The following week, Detective Conan returns the favor with an episode titled "Hanamaru na Answer" (The Flower Seal Answer), featuring Cure Answer from Star Detective Precure. The story centers on a string of jewel robberies plaguing Beika Town. Ayumi of the Detective Boys is a devoted Precure fan and becomes excited when the real-life situation mirrors a plot from the anime she watches, hoping the appearance of thieves might also bring a real Precure to her doorstep.
When the thieves' next target is rumored to be a local jewelry store, Conan and the Detective Boys are assigned to guard it and Cure Answer makes her appearance alongside them. The episode cleverly integrates the magical girl element into Conan's grounded mystery framework through Ayumi's fandom, giving the crossover a playful meta quality.
Crossover episodes between major anime properties airing on the same network are uncommon but not unheard of similar collaborations have occurred between other Toei and Shogakukan-affiliated series in the past. However, this marks the first time Detective Conan and any Precure series have shared screen time, making it a landmark moment for fans of either franchise.
Crunchyroll streams both Detective Conan and Star Detective Precure internationally, so viewers in India and other global markets will be able to watch both crossover episodes as they air. With the first episode arriving May 31, fans have less than a week to prepare for one of the most unexpected anime events of the season.
