Kojima Productions released the first teaser for Death Stranding Isolations on October 30 during its 10th anniversary event at Azabudai Hills Gallery in Tokyo. The hand-drawn animated series is headed to Disney+ and other Disney streaming services in 2027 with a new story set apart from the games.

What the teaser establishes

Death Stranding Isolations takes place in North America after Sam Bridges reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network. Instead of retelling his journey, the series follows people confronting isolation in different ways after the Death Stranding, the catastrophe that brought the worlds of the living and dead into contact.

The central figure introduced in the new story details is a young girl whose enforced solitude has become a preference. She avoids opportunities to form connections, but a series of chance encounters pushes her into a world she does not recognize. That conflict places the franchise's familiar tension between separation and connection at the center of an original narrative rather than an adaptation of the first game's plot.

That choice broadens the setting beyond the established hero without discarding the central premise of rebuilding bonds across a divided landscape. It also gives the series room to explore why some survivors resist the connections others are trying to restore.

Kojima Productions also outlined several people traveling paths distinct from Sam and Bridges. They include an elderly man who connects people through an unexplained method, a female soldier caught in a cycle of war and destruction, and a boy angered by the circumstances of his life. Their roles, names, and relationships have not been detailed, but the setup indicates that the girl's story will intersect with a wider cast shaped by the same fractured world.

The series was first announced in November 2025. The new teaser is its first substantial video preview and confirms that the project remains scheduled for 2027. It is separate from Death Stranding Mosquito, an animated film project, and the live-action Death Stranding feature in development with A24.

The production team behind Isolations

E&H Production is producing the animation in a traditional hand-drawn 2D style. Takayuki Sano is directing, while Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer. The newly confirmed creative lineup also includes novelist Tow Ubukata, who is handling series composition and the screenplay, and Ilya Kuvshinov, who created the original character designs.

Sano said he approached the production with a strong sense of duty and responsibility because of the spiritual effect he sees in Kojima's work. His role links the new series to E&H Production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui and Bullet/Bullet. Ubukata brings experience across novels, games, manga, and animation, with Mardock Scramble among his best-known works.

The teaser and staff update were presented as part of Kojima Productions' Beyond the Strand anniversary celebration. That context matters because the studio is expanding Death Stranding through several screen projects while keeping Isolations focused on its own cast and story. Rather than duplicate Sam's route, the series is using the same post-catastrophe setting to examine other lives unfolding around it.

Death Stranding Isolations remains set for Disney streaming services in 2027. An exact premiere date and cast have not yet been announced, making the next confirmed milestone the eventual release of further scheduling and character information.
