HIDIVE will exclusively stream The World Is Dancing starting June 29, three days before its Japanese TV broadcast, with Episode 2 premiering at Anime Expo 2026.

HIDIVE has confirmed it will exclusively stream The World Is Dancing beginning June 29, giving international audiences a head start on the historical anime three days before its Japanese television broadcast on July 2. The series marks one of the standout additions to the Summer 2026 simulcast lineup.
Based on Kazuto Mihara's six-volume manga serialized in Kodansha's Morning magazine, The World Is Dancing is set in 1374 and follows a twelve-year-old boy who questions why people dance. His journey leads him to discover and develop a new form of performance art during one of medieval Japan's most turbulent periods. The story dramatizes the birth of Noh, the classical Japanese dance-drama tradition that originated in the Muromachi period and has endured for over six centuries.
The manga earned a Special Award at the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2026, underscoring its cultural significance before the anime adaptation even reached screens.
Animation studio Cypic formerly known as CygamesPictures is producing the series, with Shochiku and CyberAgent serving as co-producers. Director Toshimasa Kuroyanagi leads the production alongside character designer Keigo Sasaki. The creative team has enlisted real-world expertise for the show's dance sequences: Kanze-school Noh performer Reijiro Tsumura serves as Noh choreography supervisor, while Kaiji Moriyama and Mikiko Kawamura provide additional choreography direction.
The voice cast brings together a roster of seasoned talent. Yumiri Hanamori stars as Oniyasha, with Simba Tsuchiya as Ishiya, Maaya Uchida as Kogane, and Romi Park as Zojiro. The supporting cast includes Katsuyuki Konishi, Takahiro Sakurai, Mamiko Noto, Inori Minase, and Miyuki Sawashiro.
HIDIVE's June 29 premiere date places the first episode in viewers' hands ahead of the July 2 Japanese broadcast a notable scheduling move that rewards the platform's international subscribers with early access. The service will carry the series across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The rollout extends to Anime Expo 2026 as well, where Episode 2 will receive its world premiere during a special panel on July 2. The convention screening offers attendees a chance to experience the second episode on the same day the show officially launches on Japanese television.
The World Is Dancing joins a competitive Summer 2026 anime season with a distinct proposition: a historical drama grounded in the real origins of Noh theater, backed by authentic choreography expertise and a high-profile voice cast. Viewers on HIDIVE can begin the series on June 29, with weekly simulcast episodes to follow throughout the season.
