Kyoto Animation unveiled the main trailer and final key visual for Sound! Euphonium The Final Movie Part 2, set to open in Japanese theaters on September 11.

Kyoto Animation has released the main trailer and final key visual for Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 2. The film opens in Japanese theaters on September 11, 2026, closing the curtain on a franchise that has spanned over a decade.
The newly released main trailer, which includes English and Chinese subtitles, centers on protagonist Kumiko Oumae and her rival Mayu Kuroe as they prepare for their final performance together. The footage highlights the personal struggles of both characters alongside the Kitauji High School Concert Band's all-out push to claim a Gold Award at the National Competition. New scenes from the school festival, graduation ceremonies, and intense concert sequences feature prominently, giving fans a sweeping look at the emotional stakes of this concluding chapter.
The accompanying final key visual captures the ensemble cast in a composition that emphasizes both the camaraderie and the bittersweet finality of their journey. Together, the trailer and visual signal a film designed to deliver a definitive emotional payoff for long-time viewers.
Tatsuya Ishihara, who has helmed Kyoto Animation's work on the franchise for the past ten years, serves as Chief Director. Taichi Ogawa, a key figure throughout the series' production history, steps into the Director role for Part 2. Jukki Hanada has written a new screenplay for the film, incorporating numerous original scenes not present in previous adaptations. The production promises Kyoto Animation's signature refined animation quality throughout.
The two-part Final Movie structure serves as the franchise's grand conclusion, following Part 1's earlier theatrical run. Part 2 picks up the story threads left by its predecessor and drives them toward the National Competition finale that fans have been anticipating since the television series.
Ahead of the film's September premiere, a special Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1 and Part 2 talk panel has been confirmed for Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles. The panel is scheduled for July 3, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:20 PM at the JW Diamond venue. Chief Director Tatsuya Ishihara will attend in person, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and exclusive footage from the upcoming Part 2. Additional guests are expected to join the panel.
This marks a notable international appearance for the Kyoto Animation team and gives Western fans a chance to engage with the filmmakers roughly two months before the Japanese theatrical opening.
Sound! Euphonium began as a novel series by Ayano Takeda and has grown into one of Kyoto Animation's most beloved properties, encompassing multiple television seasons, OVAs, and theatrical films. The Final Movie Part 2 represents the definitive ending to the story of Kumiko and the Kitauji Concert Band. With the main trailer now public and the Anime Expo panel on the horizon, the countdown to September 11 has officially begun for fans worldwide.
