KADOKAWA confirmed on October 25 that Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season III is in production. The sequel was unveiled through the franchise's official channels alongside the Fantasia Bunko Great Appreciation 2026 Online program, with a teaser visual, first staff and cast lineup, and story introduction.

Season II team returns

The announcement identifies the new project as Season III rather than a film or standalone special. It also says the main staff and cast disclosed so far are continuing from Season II. Yuki Inaba returns as both director and series composer, while Kaori Yoshikawa remains character designer. Studio Palette and SILVER LINK. are again credited with animation production.

The initial cast list brings back Yusuke Kobayashi as Iska and Sora Amamiya as Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX. Nao Shiraki returns as Mismis Klass, Kaori Ishihara as Nene Alkastone, Shunichi Toki as Jhin Syulargun, Yumiri Hanamori as Rin Vispose, and Azumi Waki as Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX.

Yoshikawa also drew the newly released teaser visual. It centers on Iska and Rin preparing to enter the Empire to recover Sisbell, with Aliceliese positioned above them and visibly concerned. The image matches the rescue mission that begins the season's announced story. No premiere date or broadcast window was included in the announcement, and production is still underway.

What Season III will cover

The new introduction resumes after the political upheaval in the Nebulis Sovereignty. Sisbell has been taken into the Empire, leading Iska and the N07 unit back into Imperial territory with Rin. Their rescue mission brings them into contact with research intended to create an unknown kind of witch.

Aliceliese remains in the Sovereignty as acting queen, watching the Zoa and Hydra families. The awakening of Founder Nebulis beneath the royal palace then pulls her toward another battlefield. The setup also points to a hidden history shared by the Empire and the Sovereignty, Elletear's effort to destroy both sides, and a century-old secret that will bring Iska and Aliceliese closer to what the official introduction calls their true destiny.

Original author Kei Sazane marked the announcement with a statement expressing his happiness that the story beyond Season II will be animated. He also said the new season will feature developments on a larger scale and episodes approaching the core of the story, while cautioning that viewers will need to wait before it airs.

The anime adapts Kei Sazane's light novels, illustrated by Ao Nekonabe and published by KADOKAWA's Fantasia Bunko imprint. Season I aired from October to December 2020, while Season II ran from April to June 2025. That history makes the new production a direct television continuation rather than a reset.

Season III therefore enters production with its lead team and seven announced principal cast members already in place. Its first confirmed story arc is the attempt to retrieve Sisbell from the Empire as parallel crises deepen on both sides of the war.
