KAIJU DECODE: The Ring of Aidara Teaser Reveals Lead Voices for 2027 Release
A new KAIJU DECODE: The Ring of Aidara teaser debuts Aya Yamane as Maru and Karin Takahashi as Coco ahead of the animation's planned 2027 release.

Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation released a new teaser for KAIJU DECODE: The Ring of Aidara on October 18, publicly revealing the voices of Maru and Coco. Aya Yamane voices Maru, while Karin Takahashi voices Coco. The new animation remains scheduled for release in Japan during 2027.
What the teaser reveals
The teaser uses footage from the project to introduce its central pair through both action and dialogue. Maru is a boy who lives peacefully in the City and hunts kaiju to make a living. His character profile describes him as cheerful and mischievous, with an older-brother figure known as Aniki accompanying him in his work. The newly released clip marks the first time viewers can hear Yamane performing the role.
Coco comes from the Aidara people and is identified as a kaiju handler. She wants humans and kaiju to coexist, giving her a different relationship with the creatures from Maru's livelihood as a hunter. Her official profile describes her as calm in her actions but strongly curious. Takahashi provides Coco's voice in the teaser, completing the first voiced presentation of the two protagonists.
That contrast is central to the material released so far. The official description places Maru and Coco in a society where real and virtual life coexist, but gives them different backgrounds and different ideas about kaiju. The teaser highlights the large-scale creature action while establishing the drama created when the boy who hunts kaiju encounters the girl who hopes to live alongside them.
The official materials describe the footage as emphasizing both kaiju action and the relationship between young people raised under different circumstances. The reveal therefore connects the newly heard performances to the story roles and opposing perspectives already established for the characters.
A new teaser visual was also published with the footage. It shows Coco smiling gently as she reaches toward the kaiju Giira. The image reinforces the same coexistence theme presented in her character description and gives the creature a direct place beside one of the two leads.
Who is making The Ring of Aidara
The Ring of Aidara is part of KAIJU DECODE, a transmedia project jointly developed by Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation around stories of kaiju and girls. Both companies receive the original work credit for the new animation, and Toei Animation is credited as producer. Animation production is credited to Arect and Toei Animation.
The staff listing names S/N as director and Katsuie Shibata as screenwriter. Sei Nakashima and Masatsugu Saito handle character design, while Tsuburaya Productions' Masayuki Goto is responsible for kaiju design. These credits connect specialists in character work and creature design to a story built around the differing perspectives of Maru and Coco.
The latest material confirms the lead performers, their characters' voices, the new teaser visual, and the continuing 2027 release window. A specific release date and distribution details have not yet been announced.
