hololive Launches First TV Anime Project With Studio KAI

The project is currently identified by the abbreviated name “Odeholo,” while Studio KAI is handling animation. A dedicated reveal stream is scheduled for September 23 in Japan.

The project is one of the initiatives leading into hololive production’s 10th anniversary. Its announcement marks the agency’s first move into a television anime built around hololive talents, extending a brand already active across livestreaming, music, live events, games, short-form animation, and music videos.

“Odeholo” is only the project’s abbreviated identifier for now. hololive has not disclosed the official series title, story premise, participating talent lineup, wider staff, broadcast window, episode count, or international distribution plans. That makes the announcement a production confirmation rather than a full series unveiling, and it limits what can be said about the format beyond its status as a TV anime.

hololive says the project has been in development for approximately five years. Studio KAI will oversee animation production, continuing an existing working relationship with hololive after contributing to official animated projects and music videos. The studio’s involvement is the first major production credit attached to the new series.

The timing is tied directly to the anniversary campaign. The project was announced 365 days before hololive production’s 10th anniversary, alongside a broader slate of initiatives introduced through hololive Next. This places the anime within a year-long celebration of the brand’s history and its move from livestreaming into other entertainment formats.

The initial teaser focuses on the jump from hololive’s familiar streaming and stage activities into a television anime setting. It does not establish whether the project will use an ongoing narrative, standalone stories, or another structure. The central question behind the temporary “Odeholo” label is being saved for the next presentation.

The September 23 reveal

More information will arrive in the “Odeholo” Information Reveal Special Program on Wednesday, September 23, from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. JST. The broadcast will stream on the project’s official YouTube channel, @odeholo, which has been created as a dedicated home for anime updates.

Momosuzu Nene, Omaru Polka, Yukihana Lamy, and Shishiro Botan are listed as featured participants in the program. Shirakami Fubuki and Ookami Mio will serve as hosts. Their appearance confirms the presentation roster, but hololive has not yet said whether every participant will have a role in the anime itself.

The special is expected to disclose the official title and explain what “Odeholo” means. hololive has also said that visual information and further details about the anime will be unveiled there. Subsequent updates are planned through the project’s official X account, which uses the same @odeholo handle.

For now, the confirmed picture is deliberately narrow: hololive’s first TV anime is underway after a roughly five-year development period, Studio KAI is producing the animation, and September 23 is the next scheduled milestone for the project’s fuller introduction.
