Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, the second film in the three-part Gundam Hathaway project, will stream worldwide on Netflix starting August 31. The film arrives on the platform after a successful Japanese theatrical run and a limited North American cinema engagement earlier this year.

From Theaters to Streaming

Bandai Namco Filmworks' Sunrise Animation Studios produced the film under the direction of Shukou Murase. The Sorcery of Nymph Circe originally opened in Japanese theaters on January 30 across 365 screens, where it earned over 2.3 billion yen (approximately $14.6 million) at the domestic box office. In its opening three days alone, the film sold 511,500 tickets and grossed 849 million yen ($5.43 million).

North American audiences got their chance to see the film on the big screen on May 15, with both English-subtitled and English-dubbed versions screening in theaters. The August 31 Netflix debut marks the film's widest international availability yet, bringing the second chapter of the trilogy to global audiences who missed its theatrical windows.

What the Film Covers

The Sorcery of Nymph Circe continues the story of protagonist Hathaway Noa as he grapples with his unresolved feelings for Gigi Andalucia while carrying out his mission aligned with the anti-Federation group MAFTY. Meanwhile, Kenneth Sleg prepares military action against the insurgent organization. Gigi herself remains a pivotal figure whose presence threatens to alter the course of both men's destinies in the intense space opera.

Kensho Ono reprises his role as Hathaway Noa in the Japanese version, with Caleb Yen voicing the character in the English dub. Reina Ueda returns as Gigi Andalucia in Japanese, while Megan Shipman handles the English-language performance. The main cast and most of the production team carried over from the first film, with new additions including compositing director of photography Yoshihisa Ōyama and visual effects director Manabu Kamitōno.

A Distinctive Soundtrack

The film's music lineup features a notable mix of licensed tracks and original compositions. R&B artist SZA's "Snooze" serves as the opening theme, while Guns N' Roses' classic "Sweet Child O' Mine" closes out the film as the ending theme. An original insert song, "ENDROLL," performed by SennaRin with Yōhei Kawakami, rounds out the soundtrack. Additional color key work was handled by Yuichi Kuboki and Takako Suzuki, with display design by Yoshinori Sayama.

The Road to the Trilogy's Finale

The Gundam Hathaway project adapts Yoshiyuki Tomino's novel series Hathaway's Flash, continuing the Universal Century timeline that has defined much of the Gundam franchise. With the second film now heading to Netflix, attention will naturally shift to the third and final installment, which has yet to receive an official release date.

The first Gundam Hathaway film is already available on Netflix for viewers who want to catch up before the sequel drops on August 31. Both Japanese audio with subtitles and the English dub are expected to be available at launch, consistent with the platform's handling of the first entry in the trilogy.
