Mai Nakahara joins Wistoria Wand and Sword Season 2 as high mage Clairie Serah, with the season set to debut April 12 on TBS and Crunchyroll worldwide.

Wistoria Wand and Sword Season 2 has added voice actress Mai Nakahara to its cast as the high mage Clairie Serah, with the character set to appear in the season's premiere on April 12. The announcement landed days before broadcast, slotting Nakahara into the highest tier of magic users at Will Serfort's academy.
Clairie Serah belongs to the elite class of mages at Regarden Magic Academy, the institution where Will trains despite his inability to use magic. Series creators Fujino Omori and Toshi Aoi have written the character as a new presence in the second season's story arc, expanding the academy's faculty roster as Will's circle widens. Nakahara's previous credits include Nagisa Hazuki in Free, Mion Sonozaki in Higurashi When They Cry, and Maaya Uesugi in The Quintessential Quintuplets, giving her a long history with both action and ensemble titles.
The new season starts on April 12 at 4:30 p.m. JST, airing on TBS and 27 affiliated channels along with BS NTV. Crunchyroll holds global streaming rights and will simulcast the season as it airs in Japan, including for viewers in India. The first season streamed there during summer 2024 and built a steady following on the strength of its painted style backgrounds and old world fantasy aesthetic.
Tatsuya Yoshihara, who directed the first season, has moved up to general director for Season 2, with Hideaki Nakano taking over episode direction duties. Both report into the joint animation studios Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures, who handled the first season as well. Sayaka Ono returns as character designer and chief animation director, and Yuki Hayashi reprises his composer role after scoring the first season's emotional set pieces.
The handoff from Yoshihara to Nakano is a common arrangement in long form anime sequels, where the original director remains as a creative anchor while a new episode director steers the day to day production. Nakano's prior work includes Saiyuki Reload Blast and Servamp.
Season 2 picks up Will's training arc as he continues to wield a mysterious sword in a world where every other student around him channels magic. The series is based on the manga of the same name, which is published in English by Kodansha USA. With Will's circle growing, Season 2 is widely expected to push the academy's politics into the foreground, and Clairie Serah's introduction is the first concrete sign of that wider cast expansion.
The two episode premiere on April 12 is the season's first major test with audiences, both in Japan and on Crunchyroll's worldwide platform. Early production materials suggest the season will run for 12 episodes, though Bandai Namco Pictures has not formally confirmed the episode count.
