Satoshi Mizukami's Spirit Circle is getting an 18-episode television anime, with broadcast and streaming scheduled to begin in December 2026. The announcement arrived on November 5 alongside a teaser visual and the first promotional video. NAGOMI and EOTA are jointly handling animation production, while TWIN ENGINE is producing the series.

What the first trailer establishes

The adaptation follows Fuuta Okeya, a second-year middle school student who can see spirits, and Kouko Ishigami, a mysterious transfer student with a scar on her forehead. Their meeting overturns Fuuta's ordinary life when Kouko identifies him as an enemy linked to her across multiple past lives. She intends to break that cycle by killing his soul.

The premise sends Fuuta through previous incarnations spread across distant eras, from ancient settings to the future, as he searches for the reason behind their conflict. The official introduction frames that journey around whether the pair's shared history will lead to destruction or salvation. The first video presents the reincarnation conflict through the two leads and also introduces their accompanying spirits.

Kazuki Ura voices Fuuta, while Anna Nagase plays Kouko. The casting extends across the characters' past lives: the official character material credits Ura with Fuuta's different incarnations and Nagase with Kouko's. Eri Yukimura voices Rune, the cheerful spirit who appears with Fuuta, and Yuichi Nakamura voices East, the spirit who accompanies Kouko.

The official profiles deepen that conflict. Fuuta has carried a mark on his left cheek since birth, and Kouko calls him Fortuna, the name she connects to his past. Their accompanying spirits also know one another.

The anime will run for 18 episodes. A specific December premiere day, Japanese broadcasters, and individual streaming services have not been identified.

The team bringing the manga to television

Tatsuo Sato served as director and series composer, making Spirit Circle his final directorial work. Following Sato's death in April 2026, assistant director Kentaro Mizuno and the production staff continued the project while preserving his direction, and the series was completed. Mizuno is credited as assistant director, with Satoru Fujimoto handling character design.

NAGOMI and EOTA, both part of the TWIN ENGINE group, share animation production duties. TWIN ENGINE is credited for production. The setup places an experienced central staff around a story whose seven-life structure requires the anime to move between different periods, identities, and versions of its leads.

Nagase also performs the ending theme, "Koko ga Donna Sekai demo." The song is her first solo vocal track. Its placement gives the actor playing Kouko a second role in shaping the adaptation's presentation, while the first promotional video provides the initial look at how the reincarnation storyline moves between school life and the larger conflict.

The source manga was written by Satoshi Mizukami and published by Shonen Gahosha. The official anime site lists all six collected volumes and places the adaptation's core conflict in the completed story's movement through seven lives, giving the 18-episode production a defined narrative span to adapt. That reincarnation premise remains central to the television adaptation.

Spirit Circle is set to begin its Japanese broadcast and streaming rollout in December 2026. The first video, lead cast, principal staff, ending theme, and 18-episode length are now confirmed ahead of the still-undated premiere.
