The Red River TV anime has revealed seven additional cast members and locked in a July 7 premiere on NTV's AnichU block.

The TV anime adaptation of Chie Shinohara's beloved shojo manga Red River has unveiled seven new cast members and confirmed a July 7 premiere date. The series will debut on NTV's AnichU programming block at 25:35 (effectively 1:35 a.m. on July 8), with a simulcast on BS NTV the following day.
The latest cast additions flesh out the world around the series' leads, spanning Prince Kail's personal retainers to the commanders of the Hittite military. Tomohiro Ono joins the cast as Kikkuri, Prince Kail's loyal servant, while Shiki Aoki voices Hadi, a daughter of the Hatti clan who serves Kail. Natsumi Kawaida and Misato Matsuoka play Hadi's younger twin sisters Ryui and Shala, respectively.
On the military side, Haruki Ishiya takes on the role of Kash, leader of the Hittite chariot corps. Junya Enoki known for his roles across numerous action anime voices Rusafa, commander of the archer corps. Rounding out the seven, Shinichiro Kamio plays Mittannamuwa, the infantry corps leader.
These additions join a previously announced core cast that includes Mirai Tachibana as protagonist Yuri Suzuki, Wataru Kato as Prince Kail Mursili, and Aya Uchida as the scheming Queen Nakia.
Red River, originally serialized from 1995 to 2002 in Shogakukan's Shojo Comic magazine, follows modern-day Japanese teenager Yuri Suzuki after she is transported to the ancient Hittite Empire. There she becomes entangled in palace intrigue, warfare, and a romance with the third prince of the realm. The manga spans 28 volumes and has long been considered one of the most acclaimed historical shojo series, making this anime adaptation a milestone event for fans who waited decades to see it animated.
Tatsunoko Production is handling animation duties, with Kosuke Kobayashi directing. Yoriko Tomita is in charge of series composition, while Kenji Fujisaki serves as character designer. Composer Yoshihisa Hirano, whose orchestral credits span numerous high-profile anime scores, is crafting the soundtrack. Hiroki Nanami will perform the opening theme "Akatsuki no Sora" (Dawn Sky).
The production has enlisted historical researchers Kimiyoshi Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida, both members of the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology for the Middle Eastern Culture Center in Japan. Their involvement signals a commitment to grounding the Hittite setting in real archaeological scholarship, which should resonate with the manga's reputation for weaving genuine ancient Near Eastern history into its narrative.
With a July 7 premiere now locked in, Red River will join what is shaping up to be a packed Summer 2026 anime season. The combination of a cult-classic source material, a seasoned production team at Tatsunoko Production, and a growing cast of recognizable voice talent positions the series as one of the season's most anticipated shojo offerings. Streaming details for international audiences, including availability in India, have not yet been announced.
