The Remarried Empress will become a TV anime in Japan in 2027, with Yoko Hikasa leading the cast as Empress Navier. The announcement on October 9 also named Ryohei Kimura, Tomoaki Maeno, and Reina Ueda as the other central voices, and confirmed TROYCA as the animation studio.

Cast and production team

Hikasa voices Navier, the empress at the center of the story. Kimura plays Heinrey, the prince of the Western Kingdom who becomes central to her attempt to reclaim control of her future. Maeno voices Navier's husband, Emperor Sovieshu, while Ueda plays Rashta, the concubine whose arrival changes the balance within the imperial court.

The first teaser video includes character voices for the main quartet. Character artwork for Navier, Heinrey, Sovieshu, and Rashta was also released alongside the announcement, giving the adaptation its first public look.

Tetsuya Yanagisawa is directing the series. Akiko Inoue is handling series composition and scripts, Jun Nakai is designing the characters, and Yuki Fukasawa is composing the music. TROYCA is producing the animation, with HAYATE credited as producer.

The source credits Alphatart for the original story, SUMPUL for the artwork, and HereLee for adaptation. A precise 2027 premiere date and broadcast schedule have not been announced, but Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream the anime.

What the adaptation covers

The romance fantasy follows Navier, who was educated throughout her life to become an empress and entered a political marriage with her childhood friend Sovieshu. She serves the Eastern Empire as its accomplished empress, but her position deteriorates after Sovieshu brings Rashta into the palace as his concubine and becomes increasingly devoted to her.

When Sovieshu unilaterally seeks a divorce, Navier refuses to surrender her future. She instead asks for permission to remarry Heinrey, the prince of a neighboring western nation. That decision turns the premise from a story of rejection into one about Navier trying to recover her agency and political power amid betrayal and palace intrigue. The remarriage request moves the story beyond the Eastern Empire and ties Navier's future directly to Heinrey and the neighboring Western Kingdom.

The original Korean webtoon is distributed in Japan through LINE Manga. LINE Digital Frontier says the series had passed 2.97 billion cumulative views worldwide as of July 2026 and 630 million cumulative views in Japan as of October 2026. Those figures place a large existing readership behind the newly announced adaptation.

LINE Manga is the title's exclusive distributor in Japan. To mark the anime announcement, the service opened the first 20 webtoon episodes for free from October 9 through October 15. The campaign ends at 11:59 p.m. on October 15.

Along with the teaser, the original creators shared handwritten Japanese messages and a newly drawn commemorative illustration. Together, the announcement establishes the lead creative team and the four principal voices while offering the first voiced sample of the adaptation.

For now, the confirmed release window remains 2027, with the four lead roles, principal staff, and TROYCA's animation production already in place.
