Korean web novel and manhwa hit Overgeared is officially getting a TV anime adaptation produced by J.C. Staff, directed by Ayako Kono, and premiering in October 2026.

Overgeared, the popular Korean web novel and manhwa series by Saenal, is officially receiving a TV anime adaptation from J.C. Staff. The announcement arrived on June 2, 2026, alongside a teaser trailer and teaser visual confirming an October 2026 premiere.
Overgeared began life as a Korean web novel written by Saenal before being adapted into a webtoon illustrated by Team Argo and Monohumbug at REDICE STUDIO. The series has built a massive international following through digital platforms, with Yen Press handling English publishing and Tapas distributing the webtoon. The story follows Shin Youngwoo, an unlucky and underemployed gamer who stumbles into a life-changing discovery within the virtual reality MMORPG Satisfy.
After obtaining a rare legendary class title known as Pagma's Successor, Youngwoo who takes the in-game name Grid inherits the knowledge of a legendary blacksmith. The catch: he resets to level one, forcing him to rely on his ability to forge god-tier equipment rather than traditional combat skill development. As his reputation as a master craftsman grows, his presence begins reshaping the balance of the entire game world.
J.C. Staff is handling animation production, with TEMPAL Animation Partners involved in the production committee. The creative lineup brings together experienced talent from across the industry:
Director: Ayako Kono, known for directing Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night
Series Composition: Kenta Ihara, whose credits include Sentenced to Be a Hero and Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs
Character Design: Ryosuke Tanigawa
Music: Yoshiaki Fujisawa
Sound Director: Yoshikazu Iwanami
For the cast, Tatsumaru Tachibana voices protagonist Grid, while Asami Seto takes on the role of Yura. Additional cast members have not yet been revealed.
Overgeared joins a growing roster of Korean-origin series receiving full anime adaptations from Japanese studios. Solo Leveling, Tower of God, and The Beginning After the End have already demonstrated that Korean fantasy web novels and manhwa can thrive in the anime format, drawing global audiences and performing strongly on streaming platforms. J.C. Staff's involvement signals serious production backing the studio has decades of experience across genres from Food Wars to DanMachi and A Certain Scientific Railgun.
The choice of Ayako Kono as director is particularly notable. Her work on the Sword Art Online Progressive films showed a strong handle on virtual world settings and action choreography skills that translate naturally to Overgeared's MMORPG-centric narrative. Kenta Ihara's experience with isekai and game-world series similarly positions the writing team well for adapting Satisfy's layered mechanics and political intrigue.
With an October 2026 premiere locked in, Overgeared is set to be one of the marquee titles of the Fall 2026 anime season. The teaser trailer and visual released alongside the announcement offer a first look at J.C. Staff's interpretation of Grid and the world of Satisfy. Streaming platform details and further cast announcements are expected in the coming months as the premiere window approaches.
