Original television anime Maiden Blood will premiere in 2027, bringing director Seiji Kishi, writer Makoto Uezu, illustrator LAM, and a veteran music team together for a dark fantasy action series. Its first teaser visual and promotional video introduce a demon-ravaged world and the mysterious sisters Eva and Epica.

A blood-soaked original fantasy

Maiden Blood is not based on an existing manga, novel, or game. The story takes place in a world devastated by demons, where fighters known as blood warriors possess the power to oppose them. The production describes the series as a dark fantasy action project built around relentless battles.

The teaser video offers the first look at that premise through Eva and Epica. The sisters face hostile creatures in violent combat, establishing both the bleak setting and the combat-focused direction of the series. Their wider place within the conflict remains unrevealed, but Eva is the older sister whose blood can awaken the power of Epica, her younger sister and a powerful blood warrior whose soul has been stolen.

Seiji Kishi leads the creative staff

Seiji Kishi is directing Maiden Blood after working on titles including Blue Orchestra, Assassination Classroom, and Classroom of the Elite. Makoto Uezu is responsible for series composition. His previous credits include Yuki Yuna Is a Hero, KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!, and Kengan Ashura.

LAM created the original character designs, giving the project a distinctive visual identity that contrasts sharply rendered characters with its grim supernatural setting. The animation production is being handled by the studio that announced the series.

Keiichi Okabe, Kuniyuki Takahashi, and Taichi Jouraku are composing the music. All three are associated with the creator collective MONACA, adding an established team to the production's fantasy-action foundation. Pony Canyon is overseeing music production, while MONACA is credited with music production cooperation.

Eva and Epica receive their first cast details

Iori Saeki voices Eva, while Yukari Anzai plays Epica. Both characters speak in the teaser, giving audiences an initial sense of the sisters alongside their battle footage. The early promotional material keeps most story details under wraps, focusing instead on their visual designs, their combat roles, and the dangerous world around them.

The announced staff and cast establish the project's core creative lineup, but several practical details are still pending. The production has not revealed a specific 2027 premiere date, episode count, Japanese broadcaster, or international streaming service. It also has not disclosed a broader supporting cast.

Maiden Blood therefore enters its next promotional phase with its premise, lead creators, two principal characters, and release year confirmed. The next major update will likely clarify when in 2027 the series will air and how audiences outside Japan will be able to watch it.
