The Fate Rewinder anime adaptation will premiere in April 2027 with Rie Matsumoto directing at Bones Film, featuring Sho Komura leading the cast as Chrono.

Fate Rewinder, the time-leap action manga by Futa Kimura, is getting a full television anime adaptation premiering in April 2027. The announcement at Anime Expo 2026 revealed a teaser trailer, key visual, core cast, and confirmed Rie Matsumoto as director at studio Bones Film.
Sho Komura leads the cast as protagonist Chrono, joined by Koki Uchiyama as Shirai, Kohei Amasaki as Akaba, and Reina Ueda as Lemon. The four form the central ensemble of the series, which follows Chrono as he uses time-rewinding abilities to tackle missions spanning romance, sports, and even terrorism prevention.
Rie Matsumoto, known for directing Kyousougiga and Blood Blockade Battlefront, helms the project at Bones Film - the studio subdivision also handling Gachiakuta Season 2. Kimiko Ueno handles series composition, while Satoshi Murai serves as music composer. Story Inc. is attached as a production partner.
Originally serialized in Shogakukan's Monthly CoroCoro Comic, Fate Rewinder - full Japanese title "Unmei no Makimodo Shi - All Great Achievements Require Time" - debuted as a one-shot in January 2022 before launching regular serialization the following month. The manga has accumulated 12 compiled volumes as of April 2026 and earned a nomination for the 69th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2023.
The series has been described as a "time-leap x action manga that has received high praise from top creators" across various creative fields. This will not be the property's first brush with animation - a net anime adaptation debuted on YouTube in spring 2022 - but the upcoming television series marks its first major broadcast production.
Yen Press holds the English license for the manga, with the first volume scheduled for an October release.
The anime will air on TV Asahi's "ImAnimation" programming block, placing it alongside other high-profile titles on the network. Crunchyroll confirmed during Anime Expo 2026 that it will stream the series, ensuring international availability from launch.
Bones Film's involvement adds considerable pedigree to the project. The studio is an offshoot of Bones, the animation house behind My Hero Academia, Mob Psycho 100, and Eureka Seven. Matsumoto's directorial style - characterized by vibrant visual storytelling and kinetic action sequences in her previous Bones productions - appears well-suited to a series built around time manipulation and high-stakes action.
With an April 2027 premiere window, Fate Rewinder is positioned as a spring 2027 title. The combination of Matsumoto's distinctive directorial vision, Bones Film's animation capabilities, and a manga source with over four years of serialized material gives the adaptation a strong foundation. Additional cast and staff announcements are expected in the months ahead as the project moves toward its broadcast debut.
