Digital manga platform emaqi has launched emaqi Premium, a monthly subscription service available in the United States and Canada. Priced at US$6.99 per month (CAD$9.99 in Canada), the service offers access to over 400 manga series and more than 2,000 volumes across multiple publishers.

A Growing Library of Licensed Manga

emaqi Premium's catalog draws from a wide range of Japanese publishers. Kodansha USA, Shonengahosha, and Akita Shoten anchor the launch lineup, with titles from Shogakukan and VIZ Media also part of the offering. More than 100 of the available series are exclusive to the emaqi platform, and many titles are being published in English for the first time.

The library is set to expand at a steady pace, with approximately 100 new volumes being added each month. That ongoing growth positions emaqi as a platform focused on surfacing lesser-known manga alongside established hits, giving readers access to series that might otherwise never receive official English-language releases.

Pricing, Trials, and Promotional Campaigns

New subscribers can test the service through a seven-day free trial before committing to the $6.99 monthly fee. emaqi is also running a limited-time referral program through July 31, 2026. Existing subscribers who successfully refer a friend earn 3,000 reading coins, while new users who sign up with a referral code receive a 30-day free trial instead of the standard seven days.

Alongside the referral push, emaqi has introduced a "Read-to-Earn Coin" campaign. Readers can earn 50 coins per title across 21 eligible series, up to a maximum of 1,050 coins. These coins function as in-app currency, giving subscribers additional flexibility to access content beyond the base subscription.

The Company Behind the Platform

emaqi is developed by Orange Inc., an AI localization company founded in April 2021. The company raised US$1.8 million in funding announced in July 2023 and established its US headquarters in March 2024. The emaqi app itself first launched in May 2025 as a digital manga storefront before evolving into its current subscription model.

Orange Inc.'s AI-driven approach to localization is central to the platform's strategy. By leveraging automated translation technology, the company aims to bring a higher volume of Japanese manga to English-speaking audiences faster than traditional localization pipelines typically allow. That speed is reflected in the 100-plus exclusive titles already on the platform, many of which had no prior English release.

Platform Availability

emaqi Premium is accessible on both iOS through the App Store and Android via Google Play. The subscription unlocks the full catalog of 400-plus series, with new volumes continuing to roll in monthly. For manga readers in the US and Canada looking for a lower-cost alternative to existing digital manga platforms, emaqi's $6.99 price point and growing exclusive library present a notable option in an increasingly competitive market.
