The acclaimed wine manga Drops of God receives a two-cour anime adaptation from Satelight, premiering April 10 on Tokyo MX with Crunchyroll simulcasting globally.

Wine and anime are an unlikely pairing, but Drops of God is making it work. The anime adaptation of Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto's celebrated manga premieres on April 10 at 11:30 PM on Tokyo MX, with Crunchyroll simulcasting globally as part of its spring 2026 lineup. The series is confirmed for a two-cour run spanning approximately half a year, giving it substantial room to adapt the manga's intricate storyline.
In a spring season dominated by action titles and shonen sequels, Drops of God stands out as something genuinely different: a mature drama built around sensory experience, family conflict, and the culture of wine.
Satelight produces the anime, directed by Kenji Itoso with scripts written and supervised by Yu Mitsuru. Takehiro Suwa handles character design, and Eishi Segawa composes the music. Hokuto Yoshino performs the opening theme, titled hate you? love you?, while Maaya Uchida, one of the industry's most recognized voice actresses and singers, sings the ending theme Kami no Shizuku.
Additional broadcast channels include Kansai TV and BS NTV. Four more cast members were announced in late March, rounding out the ensemble for the series' early arcs.
Drops of God follows Shizuku Kanzaki, whose late father was one of the world's foremost wine critics. To claim his inheritance, a priceless wine collection worth millions, Shizuku must identify twelve legendary wines known as the Twelve Apostles and a supreme wine called the Drops of God. Standing in his way is a rival heir adopted by his father, a brilliant young wine critic with formal training that Shizuku lacks.
The series is essentially a mystery thriller filtered through wine culture. Each Apostle identification requires Shizuku to decode his father's cryptic tasting notes, travel to vineyards, and understand the emotional and historical context behind each bottle. The competitive tension between Shizuku and his rival gives the story its dramatic engine.
The source material is a phenomenon in its own right. Originally serialized from 2004 to 2014, the manga sold over 25 million copies and had a measurable impact on the global wine industry. Wines featured in the series saw real-world sales spikes, particularly in Asian markets, with some bottles selling out within days of appearing in chapters. The manga is credited with popularizing wine culture in Japan and South Korea.
The two-cour commitment suggests the production committee is betting on the series finding its audience over time rather than relying on a flashy premiere week.
