Aoashi Season 2 Main Trailer Previews New Theme Songs

Aoashi Season 2 released the main trailer for its first cour on September 2, previewing new songs by 10-FEET and Ai Higuchi. The 24-episode soccer anime begins October 4 on NHK E Tele in Japan, with its first 12 episodes airing Sundays at 5 p.m.

What the main trailer shows

The new video puts Ashito Aoi and his Tokyo City Esperion Youth teammates in front of the Premier League's higher standard. The players are shown realizing that the abilities that carried them this far are no longer enough, setting up a stretch focused on confronting weaknesses and finding another level. The footage frames that challenge through both individual frustration and the group's effort to advance together.

The trailer also brings several of Esperion's leading players back into focus. Nagisa Akutsu, Haruhisa Kuribayashi and Yoichi Kiriki appear among the figures waiting for the newly promoted A-team members. That creates a clear competitive target for Ashito and the other youth players as the second season moves beyond the foundation established in the 2022 first season.

Season 2 is being animated by TMS Entertainment. Kazuki Yokoyama is directing, with Masahiro Yokotani handling series composition. Manabu Nakatake, Asami Taguchi and Junko Yamanaka are credited as character designers, while Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music. The announced staff also includes Kenji Iizuka as soccer supervisor, Hitoshi Higaki as art director and Shoji Hata as sound director.

Koki Osuzu leads the cast as Ashito Aoi. Other announced cast members include Tatsumaru Tachibana as Eisaku Ohtomo, Seiichiro Yamashita as Soichiro Tachibana, Taku Yashiro as Keiji Togashi and Shun Horie as Kanpei Kuroda. Their presence keeps the new season tied to the squad relationships that shaped Ashito's first campaign.

The new opening and ending themes

10-FEET performs the opening theme, "Fortress Defense," which can be heard in the main trailer. Band member TAKUMA said he had followed Aoashi through both its manga and anime, and was drawn to its view of soccer as well as Ashito's relationships with family, friends and teammates. He described writing the opening as an honor.

Singer-songwriter Ai Higuchi performs the ending theme, "Triangle." In her statement about the song, Higuchi focused on the difficult cycle of climbing to a higher level only to start again from the bottom. She presented it as a song for people who continue chasing a dream even when the next stage makes the goal feel more painful or distant.

Aoashi adapts Yugo Kobayashi's manga about Ashito's path through Japan's youth soccer system after he joins the prestigious Esperion program. The manga ran in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits from 2015 to 2025, while the television anime's first season aired in 2022.

The next confirmed milestone is the October 4 premiere on NHK E Tele, beginning the first 12 episodes of the announced 24-episode run.
