Crunchyroll Anime Nights Brings Award-Winning Korean Film Your Letter to North America on August 17
Crunchyroll Anime Nights will screen the Bucheon-award-winning South Korean animated film Your Letter in US and Canadian theaters on August 17 in Korean with English subtitles.

Crunchyroll Anime Nights will bring Your Letter, the award-winning South Korean animated film based on a popular webtoon, to theaters across the United States and Canada on August 17. The single-night screening will present the film in its original Korean audio with English subtitles, with ticket sales already underway since August 3.
A Webtoon Phenomenon Hits the Big Screen
Your Letter is adapted from the webtoon of the same name by creator Hyeon A Cho. The original series earned a remarkable 9.98 rating on the WEBTOON platform before concluding in 2019, and a print edition followed in July 2024. The webtoon has also been nominated for a Harvey Award, underscoring its reach beyond the Korean comics market.
Directed by Yong-Hwan Kim and produced by Lotte Entertainment, Studio Lico, and Studio N, the film originally premiered in South Korea on October 1, 2025. The story follows Sori, a kindhearted and principled young girl who faces bullying during middle school. When mysterious letters begin appearing, they lead her on a magical scavenger hunt that gradually reveals the identity of an anonymous guardian. Along the way, the journey teaches Sori lessons about friendship, resilience, and finding goodness in others.
Festival Recognition
The film arrived in North American theaters with significant festival credentials. Your Letter took home three prizes at the Bucheon International Animation Festival, including the prestigious Jury Award for Feature Film. The film also received honors for Best Music and Best Technical Achievement, highlighting both its emotional storytelling and its production quality. For a South Korean animated feature - a category that still receives limited theatrical distribution in North America - these accolades mark a strong endorsement.
Japan Release and Expanded Cast
Beyond its North American screening, Your Letter is set for a Japanese theatrical release on September 25, 2026, under the title En no Tegami. The Japanese version will be distributed by CoMix Wave Films, the company best known for distributing the works of Makoto Shinkai. The Japanese dub features voice actor Kensho Ono and talent Nako Yabuki in starring roles, adding further visibility to the project in one of the world's largest animation markets.
What Crunchyroll Anime Nights Means for the Film
Crunchyroll Anime Nights has become a regular vehicle for bringing standout animated films to North American cinemas for limited engagements. The program typically presents titles for a single evening, giving theatrical audiences a chance to experience films on the big screen that might otherwise be available only through streaming or import. For Your Letter, the August 17 screening represents one of the first opportunities for English-speaking audiences to see the film in theaters with professional subtitles.
The inclusion of a South Korean animated feature in the Anime Nights lineup is also notable. While the program has historically centered on Japanese animation, Your Letter reflects a broadening scope that mirrors growing international interest in Korean animation and webtoon-based properties.
Tickets and Availability
Tickets for the August 17 screening went on sale on August 3 and are available at participating theaters across the United States and Canada. The screening is a single-night event, so availability may be limited depending on venue. Fans of the original webtoon and those curious about Korean animated cinema will want to secure seats ahead of time.
