WIT Studio's The One Piece remake will premiere globally on Netflix in February 2027, delivering all seven episodes and roughly 300 minutes of reimagined East Blue saga content at once.

Netflix and WIT Studio confirmed that The One Piece, the highly anticipated anime remake of Eiichiro Oda's legendary manga, will premiere globally in February 2027. All seven episodes of the first season will drop simultaneously, totaling approximately 300 minutes of content.
The One Piece remake's debut season adapts roughly the first 50 chapters of Oda's original manga, spanning the East Blue saga through Luffy's encounter with Sanji at the Baratie restaurant. That stretch of the story encompasses the foundational arcs that introduce Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, and Usopp as the Straw Hat crew begins to take shape.
With seven episodes spread across 300 minutes, each installment averages around 43 minutes a significant departure from the standard 24-minute television format. The longer episode structure is designed to allow tighter, more faithful adaptation of the source material without the filler and pacing issues that plagued portions of Toei Animation's original 1,000-plus episode series.
WIT Studio, renowned for its work on Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga, is bringing substantial firepower to the project. Masashi Koizuka, who directed multiple seasons of Attack on Titan, helms the remake as director, with Hideaki Abe serving as assistant director.
Series composition falls to Taku Kishimoto, the writer behind Haikyu!! and Ranking of Kings, two series celebrated for their narrative clarity and emotional resonance. Character design and chief animation direction are handled jointly by Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda, while Tomonori Kuroda oversees art direction.
WIT Studio president George Wada has stated that the remake will feature tighter pacing and a late-night anime artistic sensibility, marking a deliberate shift from the original series' children's timeslot approach. The goal is to deliver a production on par with WIT's best work while honoring the spirit of Oda's manga.
Alongside the premiere window announcement, new concept artwork and character design sheets were revealed. The visuals showcase a style described as familiar yet distinctly modern, leveraging contemporary animation technology to reimagine the world of One Piece. While specific details about the animation pipeline remain under wraps, the artwork signals a polished, cinematic approach befitting a flagship Netflix original.
Voice cast details have not yet been announced. The original 1999 anime's Japanese cast including Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy remains iconic, and any casting news is expected to generate significant discussion when it arrives.
The remake exists within an expanding One Piece ecosystem on Netflix. The live-action adaptation, which debuted to strong reception, has a third season arriving in 2027 as well. A LEGO-animated One Piece special is also scheduled for September 2026. Together, these projects position One Piece as one of Netflix's most ambitious franchise plays across animation, live-action, and crossover content.
The One Piece remake was first announced in 2023, and the three-year development window underscores the scale of the undertaking. With a February 2027 global launch confirmed, fans can now mark their calendars for what promises to be one of the most significant anime premieres of the year.
