A second season of The Fable anime has been confirmed with Tezuka Productions and the original creative team returning.

The Fable is coming back. A second season of the anime adaptation was officially confirmed on April 1, 2026, with Tezuka Productions returning to produce and the core creative team and voice cast reprising their roles. No release date or premiere window has been announced.
Ryōsuke Takahashi returns to direct the second season at Tezuka Productions. Yūya Takashima handles series composition and scriptwriting alongside Mayumi Morita, while character designers Kyūma Ōshita and Saki Hasegawa are both back. Sound director Yasuyuki Urakami returns, and Yo Tsuji joins as the new music composer for the series.
The voice cast is coming back in full. Kazuyuki Okitsu reprises his role as Akira Satō, the legendary assassin known as The Fable. Miyuki Sawashiro returns as his partner Yōko Satō, and Kana Hanazawa is back as Misaki Shimizu. Over a dozen additional cast members from the first season have been confirmed to return, ensuring continuity across the entire ensemble.
The Fable adapts Katsuhisa Minami's manga of the same name, which follows a legendary assassin who is ordered by his boss to live a normal life for one year without killing anyone. The dark comedy of a supremely skilled killer trying to hold down a normal job and maintain mundane relationships drove the first season, which was well received for its blend of tension, action, and dry humor. The season originally aired from April to September 2024 as a split two-cour run.
The manga ran in Weekly Young Magazine from 2014 to 2019 across 22 volumes, followed by a sequel series titled The Fable: The Second Contact that ran from 2020 to 2023. Combined, the two manga provide extensive source material for the anime to draw from in future seasons.
The first season streamed on Disney+ internationally and Hulu in the United States. The second season is expected to follow the same distribution model, though official streaming details have not been confirmed.
The Fable carved out a distinct niche in the anime landscape with its first season, standing apart from the typical shonen action fare with its seinen sensibility and offbeat premise. With the staff and cast returning intact and no shortage of manga material to adapt, the second season is well positioned to continue the story of an assassin who might be the deadliest person alive but cannot figure out how to tell a joke.
