Tank Chair, Polygon Pictures' television adaptation of the Kodansha manga, premieres in Japan on Sunday, October 4. Tokyo MX begins the broadcast at 11:00 p.m., while Prime Video starts an early subscription stream for Japanese viewers at 11:30 p.m. the same night.

Broadcast and streaming schedule

The television rollout starts on Tokyo MX at 23:00 on October 4. BS11 lists the series for 24:30 that night, followed by CBC at 25:37 on October 5 and MBS at 27:00 on October 6. AT-X also joins on October 6 at 22:00. The production notes that broadcast dates and times may change.

Prime Video has the first Japanese subscription window, beginning at 23:30 on October 4 and continuing weekly on Sundays. A wider Japanese subscription rollout begins at 23:30 on Wednesday, October 7, with services including Anime Hodai, FOD, J:COM Stream, TELASA, d Anime Store, DMM TV, Nico Nico Channel, Bandai Channel, Hulu, and U-NEXT. Transactional rentals also begin rolling out that evening on a separate group of services. The announced plan does not identify an international streaming home.

The story and production behind the premiere

Tank Chair follows Nagi Taira, an elite assassin left unconscious after taking a bullet for his younger sister, Shizuka. Nagi can briefly wake when he senses murderous intent, so Shizuka takes him and his modified wheelchair into battles against powerful enemies in hopes that an especially intense threat will fully awaken him. The setup combines violent action with the siblings' effort to support each other.

The anime adapts the manga serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius. The official production information says the series has passed one million copies in worldwide circulation, with volumes one through 10 released in Japan. The second main promotional video frames the siblings' determination to confront Sensei, the Academy's overwhelmingly powerful leader.

Koki Uchiyama voices Nagi, with Minori Fujidera as Shizuka. The cast also includes Gakuto Kajiwara as Naozumi Kurosaka, Saori Hayami as Touko Kurosaka, Yurina Amami as Dr. Radio, Gen Sato as Uzu, and Megumi Ogata as Sensei. Ogata's casting was revealed with the second main promotional video, which provides the first sample of the character's voice. Dr. Radio is described as a scientist hiding in an abandoned radio tower, while Uzu is a newcomer to the Academy's Class A.

Tadahiro "Tady" Yoshihira is credited with direction, series composition, and scripts, while Hiroaki Ando is also credited as director and scriptwriter. Yuki Moriyama designed the characters, Masaru Yokoyama composed the music, and Polygon Pictures handles animation production. The series used pre-recorded voice performances, an approach highlighted in the promotional material. SiM performs the opening song "DALALA," and Daoko performs the ending song "SYNC." The ending track is scheduled for digital release at 24:00 on October 4, with cover artwork drawn by the manga's creator.

Following the October 4 television and Prime Video start, the next confirmed availability milestone is the broader Japanese streaming rollout on October 7.
