Skip and Loafer Season 2 Confirms April 2027 Premiere With New Teaser
Skip and Loafer Season 2 will premiere in April 2027 with P.A. Works returning to animate and Crunchyroll streaming worldwide.

Skip and Loafer's second season will premiere in April 2027. The anime's official website confirmed the window alongside a new teaser trailer that showcases Mitsumi, Sosuke, and their friends continuing their lively high school days.
P.A. Works Reassembles the Core Team
P.A. Works returns as the animation studio for the sequel, bringing back the creative team that shaped the first season's warm, character-driven tone. Director Kotomi Deai is once again at the helm, pulling double duty as script writer while Yoko Yonaiyama oversees series scripts. Manami Umeshita reprises her role as character designer and co-chief animation director, joined by Reina Igawa as co-chief animation director.
The production's broader staff roster also remains largely intact. Mio Fujishima handles sub-character design, Satomi Higuchi returns for prop setting, and Yuta Fujii continues as background art lead. Junichi Higashi serves as art supervisor, with So Senoo as art director. Yuko Kobari stays on for color design, Kazuto Izumita directs photography, and Motonari Ichikawa manages the 3D direction. Ayumu Takahashi returns for editing, and Haru Yamada continues as sound director.
A New Musical Voice Joins the Score
One notable addition to the Season 2 lineup is composer MICHIRU, who joins returning composer Takatsugu Wakabayashi on the music. Wakabayashi's understated, gentle score was a defining element of the first season, underscoring Mitsumi's earnest energy and the show's quieter emotional beats. The addition of a second composer suggests a broader sonic palette for the sequel as the story progresses into new territory.
The Source Material
Skip and Loafer adapts Misaki Takamatsu's manga of the same name, which has been serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine since August 2018. The series follows Mitsumi Iwakura, an ambitious and slightly awkward girl from a rural town who moves to Tokyo for high school, and Sousuke Shima, her effortlessly cool classmate who becomes her unlikely companion. The manga remains ongoing with ten volumes published in Japan, giving Season 2 plenty of material to draw from beyond the twelve episodes covered in the first season.
The first season aired in Spring 2023 and earned widespread praise for its naturalistic portrayal of adolescent friendships, its gentle humor, and P.A. Works' expressive character animation. The show stood out in a crowded slice-of-life field by grounding its comedy in genuine emotional specificity rather than relying on genre tropes.
Streaming and What Comes Next
Crunchyroll will stream Season 2 simultaneously with its Japanese broadcast, maintaining the global accessibility that helped the first season build its audience. All twelve episodes of Season 1 are currently available on the platform for viewers looking to catch up or revisit the series ahead of the April 2027 premiere.
The new teaser offers a brief but inviting look at the continuation, with the familiar warmth of P.A. Works' animation style clearly on display. With the creative team returning nearly wholesale and a proven source manga fueling the story, Skip and Loafer Season 2 is positioned as one of Spring 2027's most anticipated slice-of-life returns.
