Monster Strike Anime Mera × Death Sets January 5, 2027 Premiere
Monster Strike spinoff Mera × Death will premiere on January 5, 2027, with its key visual, promotional video, and initial production staff now revealed.

The Monster Strike anime Mera × Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijou na Koi will premiere January 5, 2027, on TOKYO MX and other Japanese terrestrial stations. The date was announced September 27 alongside a new key visual, promotional video, and initial production staff for the franchise's next animated project.
What the January premiere confirms
The broadcast plan currently covers 10 terrestrial channels, with TOKYO MX among them. The series website notes that airtimes will differ by station and says a fuller broadcast schedule will be released later. January 5 falls on a Tuesday, fixing the project's television launch at the opening of Japan's winter 2027 anime season.
The premiere announcement also marks the first substantial look at Mera × Death since the project was introduced. Its key visual puts high school student Mera Kagari alongside the mysterious girl Thirteen, while separate character artwork offers a clearer view of both leads. The materials frame the series as a new anime connected to MIXI's Monster Strike smartphone action role-playing game, which has previously expanded through web anime, theatrical films, and television productions.
No episode count or detailed station-by-station schedule was included with the date reveal. For now, the confirmed rollout is a Japanese terrestrial broadcast beginning January 5, with additional scheduling information still to come from the production.
The new video sets up Mera and Thirteen
The promotional video begins with Mera moving through an ordinary daily routine before Thirteen suddenly appears and asks him on a date. What initially resembles a bright boy-meets-girl encounter turns uneasy as Thirteen's behavior and words introduce a threat to the relationship. The shift gives the teaser two distinct moods, pairing the excitement of an unexpected meeting with the danger implied by the series' death-themed title.
That contrast is central to the video's structure. Its first half emphasizes the excitement of a sudden connection, then the second half undercuts that energy with Thirteen's ominous presence. The presentation avoids explaining her goal, leaving the nature of the pair's relationship as the story's central question. It also gives the romance setup a darker edge without revealing how the conflict will unfold.
Official character profiles describe Mera as a high school student living at a diner in the Tomisaka shopping district. He is introverted and prone to negative fantasies, but fundamentally sincere and kind. Thirteen is presented as an enigmatic girl with a mysterious presence and a liking for spicy food. Their contrasting introductions establish the emotional center of the story without explaining why she has entered Mera's life.
Animation production is shared by Qzil.la and studio keel. Kenta Kushitani is directing, while Tadashi Sakazaki is handling character design. Together with the premiere date, the visual, video, and staff credits give the project its clearest production outline so far.
Mera × Death is now set to begin its Japanese television run on January 5, 2027. The next confirmed update will be the detailed broadcast information promised by the official site.
