Magic Knight Rayearth Trailer Confirms Two-Cour Run and New Theme Songs

The new Magic Knight Rayearth television anime unveiled its second main trailer at Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair on September 20. The preview confirms a two-cour broadcast beginning October 7 on TV Asahi's nationwide IMAnimation W block, introduces four antagonist cast members, and features both of the series' theme songs.

What the second trailer confirms

Magic Knight Rayearth will begin airing in Japan on Wednesday, October 7, at 11:45 p.m. on TV Asahi affiliates, with some regions excluded. The consecutive two-cour plan gives the production a continuous broadcast window across two television programming quarters. The official broadcast schedule also lists the first domestic streams from 12:15 a.m. on October 8.

The new video shifts attention toward the central conflict. It shows Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji facing the enemies in their path, while the Rune Gods also enter the action. The footage emphasizes magical attacks and fast-moving combat, giving viewers a broader look at how the new adaptation will stage its fantasy battles.

The trailer was presented during a September 20 stage at Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2026. Ayane Sakura, Rumi Okubo, and Rie Takahashi appeared for their roles as Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, respectively, alongside Yuki Kaji, who voices Clef. The official event report said the cast discussed their approach to the characters and the recording process before the new video was shown.

Sakura described the responsibility of playing a character from a long-loved work and said the team approached the recording and animation with care. Okubo spoke about the characters growing in stages, while Takahashi said she wanted to share the enjoyment she found when encountering Rayearth for the first time.

Theme songs and four new opponents

Toaka performs the opening theme, "Otome no Ken," while Kawaguchi Yurina performs the ending theme, "Seira." Both tracks are heard in the second trailer, connecting the music announcement directly to the new footage.

At the stage, Kaji said the theme lyrics felt as if they had been shaped after carefully absorbing the work. The official event report notes that both songs were unveiled through the same video. The trailer supplies a combined sample of those tracks with the action sequences they will accompany each week.

Four additional cast members will voice opponents who stand against the Magic Knights. Mamiko Noto plays Alcyone, a magician serving Zagato. Ayumu Murase voices Ascot, a summoner who attacks with magical beasts and regards them as friends. Hitomi Ueda joins as Caldina, an illusionist whose dance can confuse her targets. Hiroki Yasumoto plays Lafarga, a swordsman who once served as Princess Emeraude's guard captain before coming under Zagato's control.

The additions expand the announced cast beyond the three heroines and their early allies. They also clarify the members of Zagato's side included in the announced ensemble. In the trailer, that opposition is paired with shots of the Magic Knights and the Rune Gods in battle rather than presented only through character portraits.

The September 20 reveal establishes the immediate rollout: a second main trailer now available, both theme songs identified, four antagonist roles filled, and a consecutive two-cour television run. The next confirmed milestone is the Japanese premiere on October 7.
