Crunchyroll will exclusively stream the Kagurabachi anime worldwide when it premieres in April 2027, with Katsuyuki Konishi joining the cast as Togo Shiba.

Crunchyroll has confirmed it will exclusively stream the Kagurabachi anime across all territories outside Japan, Mainland China, North Korea, and South Korea when the series premieres in April 2027. Alongside the streaming announcement, Katsuyuki Konishi has been revealed as the voice of Togo Shiba.
The deal makes Crunchyroll the sole international streaming home for one of the most anticipated shonen adaptations in recent memory. The platform will carry the series from its April 2027 debut in every market except Japan, Mainland China, North Korea, and South Korea. Japanese broadcast and streaming partners have not yet been disclosed.
Kagurabachi is animated by studio Cypic, the production house behind Umamusume: Cinderella Gray and The Summer Hikaru Died. Tetsuya Takeuchi directs, with character designs by Keigo Sasaki. Shochiku and CyberAgent sit on the production committee, signaling significant backing for the adaptation.
Veteran voice actor Katsuyuki Konishi known for roles such as Kamina in Gurren Lagann and Laxus Dreyar in Fairy Tail joins the Japanese cast as Togo Shiba. A character teaser trailer accompanied the announcement, giving fans their first look at Togo in motion.
Konishi rounds out a growing cast that already includes Taihi Kimura as protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira and Tomokazu Seki as his father Kunishige Rokuhira. Both were announced during earlier promotional reveals. Additional cast members are expected to be unveiled in the coming months as the premiere draws closer.
The anime adapts Takeru Hokazono's manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since September 2023. The series has surpassed four million copies in circulation and won the Next Manga Awards 2024 in the print category, establishing it as one of the magazine's fastest-rising properties in recent years.
The story follows young swordsman Chihiro Rokuhira on a revenge quest against sorcerers who murdered his father, a legendary bladesmith. Armed with one of his father's enchanted katanas, Chihiro cuts through enemies and conspiracies in a dark-fantasy world where magical swords shape the balance of power. The manga's kinetic action choreography and tightly paced narrative have drawn frequent comparisons to classic battle shonen, fueling anticipation for how Cypic will translate the material to screen.
Before the April 2027 broadcast, a Kagurabachi Anime World Tour will bring early footage to fans across the globe. The first leg kicks off in July 2026 at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, followed by appearances at Japan Expo in Paris and AnimagiC in Mannheim. An August 2026 screening at Anime NYC rounds out the international circuit, with each event showcasing the first twenty minutes of episode one. A full first-episode screening will follow in Japan ahead of the spring 2027 premiere.
With a proven manga hit, a rising studio, and now a major streaming partner locked in, Kagurabachi is shaping up to be one of the headline anime debuts of spring 2027. Crunchyroll subscribers worldwide will be able to watch the series from day one when it launches next April.
