The Kagurabachi television anime announced on October 2 that Yuichi Nakamura will voice Soshiro Azami. The reveal, posted on the anime's official website, arrived with a new character visual, a character-focused promotional video, and comments from Nakamura about joining the adaptation.

What the new Azami material adds

The character trailer centers on Azami within the anime's promotional campaign. Alongside the video, the production released a standalone character visual and updated the official character page, giving the newly announced role a place among the series' previously introduced cast.

Nakamura said he read Takeru Hokazono's manga while auditioning and felt that it carried the recent spirit of Jump. He became interested enough in what happened next to read every volume available at the time. He also said he was excited to see memorable scenes from the manga brought to animation.

Discussing the manga more broadly, Nakamura said its dark opening is balanced by a protagonist with clear convictions and goals. He highlighted the action as its most immediately striking element, while also pointing to the setting, artwork, and developing plot as reasons he kept reading.

In additional comments released with the casting news, Nakamura described his starting approach to Azami as serious but also somewhat dry. He said he paid attention to how the character balanced against the other roles already present in the recording. Nakamura also contrasted Azami with Shiba, describing Azami as more of a realist while noting that he still possesses compassion.

Where Soshiro Azami fits in Kagurabachi

Azami is a sorcerer who belongs to the Kamunabi, the organization that operates within Kagurabachi's supernatural conflict. The character profile identifies him as one of the few people who knows about Chihiro Rokuhira despite Chihiro's existence having been hidden from the wider public.

The profile also emphasizes Azami's physical strength. He is described as capable of overwhelming opponents with exceptional striking power and as one of the standout fighters within the Kamunabi. That combination of institutional authority, knowledge about Chihiro, and direct combat ability gives the casting reveal clear story context without disclosing where his anime appearances will begin.

The anime's official news feed has been introducing its characters through individual visual and trailer releases. Earlier updates highlighted Chihiro, Kunishige Rokuhira, Togo Shiba, Hinao, and Char Kyonagi, with cast announcements accompanying several of those reveals. Azami's update follows that same rollout format, pairing Nakamura's casting with material centered specifically on the character.

With this update, Azami is now formally part of the announced cast and represented in the anime campaign by both a dedicated visual and character trailer.
