Kagurabachi Anime World Tour Screens First 20 Minutes at Anime NYC August 22

The Kagurabachi anime adaptation will screen the first 20 minutes of its debut episode at Anime NYC on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The screening takes place on the Main Stage at New York's Javits Convention Center as the final stop of the anime's four-city World Tour.

What to Expect at Anime NYC

The Anime NYC event will be a screening-only affair, with no panel or talkback session announced at this time. A specific showtime has not yet been confirmed. Attendees at the Javits Convention Center will get one of the last advance looks at the adaptation before its official April 2027 broadcast premiere.

The World Tour format has varied by location. Earlier stops in Los Angeles and Paris featured extended panels with cast and production staff, while the later European and North American dates have focused purely on the footage itself. Regardless of format, each stop has offered fans the same exclusive first look at 20 minutes of the anime's opening episode.

The World Tour's Global Run

Anime NYC marks the fourth and final city in Part 1 of the Kagurabachi World Tour. The circuit launched at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 3, where voice actor Taihi Kimura, manga editor Takuro Imamura, and anime producer Koichi Yasuda appeared alongside the screening. Japan Expo Paris followed on July 9 with cross-media producer Riki Azuma and Yasuda in attendance. The third stop landed at AnimagiC in Mannheim, Germany, on August 1 with a screening-only format.

The "Part 1" designation suggests additional World Tour legs could follow, though no further dates have been announced.

The Anime Adaptation

Studio Cypic, a CyberAgent subsidiary, is handling animation production. Tetsuya Takeuchi directs, with Keigo Sasaki serving as character designer. Taihi Kimura - a 2025 Seiyu Award winner - leads the cast as protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira. Shochiku and CyberAgent co-lead the production committee, with MUSE and SMG Holdings attached to the broadcast rollout.

The anime adapts Takeru Hokazono's manga, which has been serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2023. The series follows Chihiro, a young swordsman wielding an enchanted blade as he navigates a world of sorcery and vengeance after the murder of his father. As of May 2026, the manga has surpassed four million copies in cumulative circulation, cementing it as one of the magazine's rising hits.

Looking Ahead to April 2027

With the World Tour wrapping up at Anime NYC, the next major milestone for the franchise is the official broadcast premiere in April 2027. The early screenings have served as a global hype-building campaign, giving convention audiences a taste of what Cypic's adaptation will deliver when the full series launches. Fans who cannot attend Anime NYC will have to wait until next spring to see the adaptation for themselves.
