Unpopular Opinion: Vegeta Is a Better Dad Than Goku and It's Not Close

We love Goku. He's the goat. But let's look at the facts.

Goku has spent more time dead by choice than he has raising his kids. He gave Cell a Senzu bean while his son was fighting him. He didn't know what a kiss was despite having two children. He constantly ditches his family to train.

Now look at Vegeta.

The Prince of Parenting

Vegeta started as a villain who didn't care about anyone. But look at his arc.

• He hugged Trunks: In the Buu saga, before sacrificing himself, he held his son. That moment defines redemption.
• He stayed for Bra's birth: In Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta refused to go train for the Tournament of Power because Bulma was pregnant. He prioritized his wife over fighting. Goku couldn't comprehend that.
• He takes Trunks to the park: It's a small scene, but Vegeta actually spends time with his family on vacations. He grumbles about it, but he does it.

Why It Matters

Vegeta's character development is the best thing Toriyama ever wrote. He went from a genocidal maniac to a man who knows that strength isn't just about muscles—it's about having something to protect.

Goku fights because he loves fighting. Vegeta fights to protect his family.

That's the difference. And that's why Vegeta wins the Father of the Year award.
