Veteran voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi and Junko Takeuchi joined Go for It Nakamura as in story manga characters, with the anime now streaming on Crunchyroll worldwide.

The Go for It Nakamura anime has added veteran voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi and Junko Takeuchi to its cast, with both characters debuting in the show's premiere episode on April 1, 2026. Yamaguchi voices Makinouchi and Takeuchi plays Taku, a pair of in story manga characters who appear inside a fictional BL romance guide that the protagonist consults for relationship advice.
The casting is an unusual layered joke. Yamaguchi and Takeuchi are best known for voicing Inuyasha and Kid Goku across decades of anime history. Putting them inside a fictional manga that Nakamura reads to figure out how to flirt is a deliberate wink to anime veterans, both because of the actors' weight in the industry and because the in show manga, titled Lovable Lunches, is treated as the protagonist's emotional guidebook. The two characters appeared briefly in episode one and are expected to return as Nakamura continues to consult the in story guide.
Go for It Nakamura is based on the manga by Syundei, a romantic comedy about a desperately shy high school boy named Okuto Nakamura who falls hard for his classmate Aiki Hirose and tries every awkward strategy in the book to talk to him. The anime debuted on April 1 on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11 at 24:30, effectively early Thursday morning. Episodes also stream same day on Hulu Japan, with Crunchyroll handling international distribution.
Chiaki Kobayashi voices Nakamura, with Yuki Sakakihara as Aiki Hirose. Fairouz Ai plays Hifumi Kawamura. The supporting cast also features additional roles announced ahead of the premiere, with the production using a smaller core ensemble than most spring 2026 romcoms. The English dub is being produced same day on Crunchyroll, directed by Jad Saxton, with Nasim Benelkour as Nakamura, Patrick Pedraza as Hirose, Emi Lo as Hamaoka, Morgan Berry as Kana, and Gillian Lange as Kawamura.
Aoi Umeki, known for episode direction on Pop Team Epic, serves as both director and screenwriter at studio Drive, also designing the characters herself. Naoki Yoshibe is assistant director and Yasuko Aoki oversees scripts. The opening theme is performed by veteran rock musician Yasuyuki Okamura together with Kento Nakajima, providing the show one of the higher profile theme song collaborations of the spring 2026 season.
Crunchyroll holds the rights to stream the show in North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent with English subtitles and a same day English dub. The first three episodes are now live on the platform. Seven Seas publishes the original manga in English, where it has been out for several years and built a steady following with readers of slow burn high school romance.
Bringing two of the most recognisable veteran voice actors in Japan into a small character comedy gives the production a marketing hook, but it also reflects how casting directors are increasingly placing big name seiyu in supporting roles to draw older fans into newer titles. Yamaguchi and Takeuchi's debut episode is already drawing buzz on Japanese social platforms in the days since the premiere.
