Gals Cant Be Kind to Otaku premiered April 8 at 11:45 p.m. on TV Asahi, with TMS Entertainment animating and Crunchyroll streaming globally including India.

Gals Cant Be Kind to Otaku began airing on April 8, 2026, debuting on the IMAnimation W block on TV Asahi at 11:45 p.m. JST. TMS Entertainment's number 6 Studio is producing the romantic comedy, which follows a withdrawn otaku and the gal classmates who refuse to leave him alone.
Director Shin Mita leads the project at TMS, working from screenplays by Kazuhiko Inukai. Rion Matsuda handles character design and serves as chief animation director, and Wataru Sato composes the score. The team has built a polished visual identity for the show across promotional materials, leaning into the contrast between the gyaru aesthetic and protagonist Takuya Seo's deliberately drab character design.
Sho Komura voices Takuya Seo, with Konomi Inagaki as Kei Amane and Yu Serizawa as Kotoko Ijichi. The supporting cast includes Jun Kasama as Genichiro Ijichi, Konomi Kohara as Sayu Amamiya, Atsumi Tanezaki as Kakeru Ijichi, and Emiri Kato as Hibiki Ijichi. The Ijichi family lineup gives the show a built in sibling dynamic that the manga used to expand its cast quickly, and the casting roster has drawn attention for pulling in actors from a mix of recent hit titles.
The opening sequence is HIDE AND SEEK by Korean girl group i-dle, marking one of the more high profile K pop crossovers for an anime opening this season. The ending theme is Isho Nakako by sun soo girl. Both tracks released to streaming services on the day of the premiere.
Crunchyroll is streaming the series globally, including in India, the Middle East, the CIS, North and South America, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. Episodes go live on the platform with English subtitles shortly after the Japanese broadcast each week. Crunchyroll has not announced a Hindi or Tamil dub for the show as part of its spring 2026 India lineup.
The series is based on the manga by Yorita Miyuki, which has been published in Hakusensha's Young Animal imprint. The premise centres on Takuya Seo, an introverted otaku who would much prefer to be left alone with his hobbies, and the cluster of gyaru classmates who keep finding excuses to interact with him. The first season covers the early manga arcs and ends roughly where the first volume's sibling introduction storyline wraps up.
Gals Cant Be Kind to Otaku joins a crowded spring 2026 romcom slate that also includes returning sequels and several other manga to anime adaptations debuting the same month. The IMAnimation W block on TV Asahi is also broadcasting other notable spring titles, giving the show a high traffic time slot for late night viewers in Japan.
The premiere episode runs the standard 23 minute length, with episodes weekly on Wednesdays.
