The creator of Fullmetal Alchemist returns to anime with a two-cour dark fantasy series produced by Bones Film, now streaming with same-day English dubs.

Hiromu Arakawa's first major anime adaptation since Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood has arrived. Daemons of the Shadow Realm premiered on Crunchyroll on April 4 with a same-day English dub, launching a two-cour run produced by Bones Film that ranks among the most anticipated debuts of Spring 2026.
The series adapts Arakawa's manga of the same name, serialized in Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday Gene-X since 2021. Set in a world where certain humans wield the power to control supernatural beings known as Daemons, the story follows twins Yuru and Asa who were separated at a young age and have grown up unaware of each other's existence. Each sibling possesses the rare ability to command Daemons, creatures that inhabit a shadow realm alongside the human world. As they independently struggle to survive in a society that both fears and exploits Daemon wielders, a shared prophecy pulls them toward a reunion that could determine the fate of both realms.
Masahiro Andō directs the anime at Bones Film, a subdivision of the acclaimed Studio Bones known for its work on action-driven properties. The main cast includes Kensho Ono as Yuru and Yume Miyamoto as Asa, with new episodes airing every Saturday on Crunchyroll.
The series has been confirmed for two consecutive cours, giving the adaptation significant room to explore Arakawa's layered world-building and the complex mythology underpinning the Daemon hierarchy. Vaundy, one of Japan's most popular contemporary artists, performs the opening theme "Tobu Toki," while Yama handles the ending theme "Tobō yo." Both musicians are chart-toppers in their own right, and their involvement underscores the production's high-profile positioning within the Spring 2026 slate.
The English dub launched simultaneously with the Japanese broadcast, extending Crunchyroll's global simulcast strategy to one of the season's flagship titles. Viewers in the Asia-Pacific region can also access the series through Ani-One Asia's YouTube channel, broadening the show's reach beyond traditional streaming platforms.
Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist remains one of the highest-rated anime and manga franchises of all time, with Brotherhood consistently sitting atop recommendation lists more than fifteen years after its premiere. Her return to a new serialized work, and now its anime adaptation, has been one of the anime community's most closely watched developments since the manga launched.
Daemons of the Shadow Realm enters a stacked Spring 2026 season alongside returning heavyweights like Re:Zero Season 4 and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4. Among new debuts, however, few carry the name recognition that Arakawa brings. With Bones' track record in action animation and a two-cour runway, the series has every advantage it needs to deliver on years of anticipation. New episodes stream every Saturday on Crunchyroll with global dub support.
