Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Confirmed for Fall 2026 Netflix Premiere by Studio TRIGGER

CD PROJEKT RED and Studio TRIGGER have confirmed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will premiere exclusively on Netflix in Fall 2026. The sequel anime series features an entirely new cast of characters and a standalone narrative set in the dystopian sprawl of Night City.

A New Story in Night City

Rather than continuing the story of David Martinez, whose arc concluded definitively in the original 2022 series, Edgerunners 2 introduces a fresh roster of characters, including Weak, D, Roman, and Talia, whose interconnected stories unfold across Night City. The series explores previously unseen corners of Night City, delivering what the official announcement describes as "a raw, gritty take on the world" that digs deep into what it means to be an edgerunner.

The standalone approach allows newcomers to jump in without prior knowledge of the first season, while the shared setting and themes give returning fans a reason to revisit the Cyberpunk 2077 universe from a different angle.

New Creative Team at the Helm

Kai Ikarashi, who contributed key animation to the original Edgerunners and previously worked on SSSS.Gridman, steps into the director's chair for the sequel. Character design duties fall to Ichigo Kanno, whose artwork has already been showcased in official key visuals.

Hugo Award-winning writer Bartosz Sztybor serves as showrunner, story writer, and producer, with Masahiko Otsuka returning as a key creative collaborator. Sztybor, who works within CD PROJEKT RED, shaped the narrative foundation for the first series and returns to anchor the sequel's script. Saya Elder serves as executive producer.

The original score is composed by Tsuneo Imahori, adding another layer of identity to the show's sonic palette. A trailer released in late June 2026 featured "You Can't Run From Me," an original track performed by Rico Nasty that is available on major music streaming platforms.

Anime Expo Premiere and Voice Cast

CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER held a panel at Anime Expo on July 3, 2026, in Los Angeles, where creators and voice talent appeared before fans. The event included an exclusive screening of the premiere episode - notably, the screening was not recorded or streamed, keeping the footage under wraps ahead of the fall launch.

Among the confirmed voice cast, Nazeeh Tarsha has been announced in the role of a character identified as D. Further casting details have yet to be revealed, though additional announcements are expected as the release window approaches.
