The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 has released its main trailer, locking in an October 2, 2026 premiere. The new preview showcases Yorushika's opening theme, introduces Reina Ueda as a mysterious new character, and confirms the season will span two split cours.

Yorushika Returns to the Spotlight

The main trailer features Yorushika's new opening theme, titled "Kumo wo Nuke Kazashimo e Watashi Dake." The rock duo, known for their evocative storytelling through music, brings a sweeping sound to the preview that underscores Maomao's continued journey through the imperial court's intrigue. The trailer itself offers fresh glimpses of the political machinations and palace mysteries that defined the series' first two seasons, with animation handled once again by OLM.

Reina Ueda Joins as Bai Niangniang

Voice actress Reina Ueda has been added to the cast as Bai Niangniang, a character described as a mysterious "immortal maiden" whose rumors circulate through the palace. Ueda, recognized for her roles across a wide range of anime, brings her versatility to a character poised to add a new layer to the court's web of secrets. She joins the returning leads Aoi Yuuki as Maomao and Takeo Otsuka as Jinshi.

Alongside the trailer, individual character visuals were released for ten main characters, accompanied by a new key visual showcasing the season's refreshed aesthetic.

Returning Staff and Production Shifts

Director Akinori Fudesaka returns to helm the third season, with series composition by Norihiro Naganuma and character designs by Yukiko Nakatani. The music team features an impressive trio of composers in Satoru Kosaki, Kevin Penkin, and Arisa Okehazama. Nanako Okazaki joins as the new color designer alongside returning designer Misato Aida.

One notable shift in the production is that TOHO animation STUDIO is no longer listed as a co-production partner on the animation side. OLM continues as the primary animation studio, maintaining the visual quality that earned the series its dedicated following.

Two-Cour Run and December Film

The third season will air as two split cours. The first cour begins on October 2, 2026, while the second cour is scheduled for April 2027. This extended format gives the adaptation room to cover more of Natsu Hyuuga's light novel source material, which has grown to sixteen volumes.

Beyond the television series, a theatrical film is set for December 11, 2026, featuring an original story penned by Hyuuga herself. The film slots neatly between the two cours, giving fans additional content during the break.

What Lies Ahead

The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 premieres October 2, 2026, and will be available to stream on Crunchyroll. With a two-cour television run and an original theatrical film arriving in December, the franchise is set for its most ambitious stretch yet. Fans of Maomao's sharp wit and palace-intrigue mysteries have plenty to look forward to heading into the fall season.
