Ace of Diamond Act II Second Season is premiering in April 2026 on TV Tokyo and AT-X, with new director Hideaki Oba taking over at OLM after a four year hiatus.

Ace of Diamond Act II Second Season is premiering in April 2026 on TV Tokyo and AT-X, returning Yuji Terajima's competitive baseball saga to television after a nearly four year gap. Studio OLM is producing the new season under a new director, Hideaki Oba, who is taking over from Mitsuyuki Masuhara.
Hideaki Oba is the headline production change. Oba is best known within OLM's roster for his episode work on Pokemon and earlier studio properties, and his promotion to lead Ace of Diamond Act II's continuation marks a generational shift inside OLM's sports anime team. The previous director Mitsuyuki Masuhara remains credited on the franchise but has stepped aside for the second season of Act II's run, in a move OLM has framed as part of a broader internal rotation.
Several core staff members return to keep the season visually consistent with what aired before. Kenji Konuta, who has overseen series scripts across all four Ace of Diamond television runs to date, is back as series writer. Composer Hajime Hyakkoku returns to score the new episodes after handling Act II's original season. Yasukazu Shoji takes over character design, replacing Minoru Ueda and Satoshi Tasaki, who had handled the role across earlier seasons. The full main voice cast is reprising their roles.
The season airs on TV Tokyo and its affiliates, with parallel broadcast on AT-X. International streaming arrangements have not been formally announced as part of the spring 2026 simulcast lineup, though the franchise's previous seasons were available outside Japan on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll holds the catalogue rights to the older seasons in most markets, including India, where viewers can watch them with English subtitles.
Act II picks up the story years after the original Ace of Diamond, following Eijun Sawamura's continuing journey at Seidoh High School after the previous baseball roster has graduated. The original Act II anime ran for one cour in 2019 and 2020 before going on hiatus, leaving the story unfinished and triggering years of fan campaigns for a continuation. The new second season is expected to adapt the next major tournament arc from Yuji Terajima's manga, which ran for 34 volumes in Act II between 2015 and 2022 before ending its publication in Weekly Shonen Magazine.
For sports anime fans, the gap between Act II's first season and this second outing has been one of the longest waits in the genre. The franchise originally began in 2013 as Ace of Diamond, ran for two seasons across 126 episodes, then continued as Ace of Diamond Act II from 2019. The lack of resolution at the end of the first Act II season made the new continuation a long running fan request, and OLM's decision to greenlight the second season in late 2025 was met with considerable enthusiasm in baseball anime circles.
Notably, Yuji Terajima's manga has now wrapped its full run, which gives the new anime production a complete source material runway. Whether OLM intends to adapt all the way to the manga's ending or stop at a natural pause has not been clarified by the production committee.
K MANGA publishes Ace of Diamond Act II in English, where readers can already find out how the story concludes well ahead of the anime's adaptation pace.
